Subject: An open letter to
Mr. Bernard LANDRY
Dear
Mr. Landry,
The
bible teaches (Ecclesiastes 7:2-8): “Better
is to go to the house of mourning than to go to the banquet house, because that
is the end of all mankind: and the one alive should take it to his heart … The
heart of the wise one is in the house of mourning, but the heart of the stupid
ones is in the house of rejoicing … “.
These
words are motivating my letter to you, Mr. Landry, and I hope it will not be
censored at the last moment by your “soul guards” in your Quebec City
office.
Perhaps
we agree that the majority of people should not pay much attention to politics,
and that there must be something wrong with society if they do. It is worse still when they try to analyze
the morality and personality of their top politicians. At the moment, though, the society needs a
dialogue with its rulers. Fortunately, according to the quoted biblical wisdom
beaten politicians “mourning” their electoral losses are the best dialogue
partners. In particular, they can
induce deeper reflections or provide more honest answers for the masses of
people who feel manipulated – and you, Mr. Laundry, seem to be the best
moderator. Perhaps you can achieve the best perspective from which to truly
understand discouraged people when you find yourself being used, exploited and
scorned as well.
Let’s
hope that with your help the next election will bring real change to our
corrupted political system on at least our provincial level.
Today, and especially in the North
American continent, the politicians who previously inspired the masses are
degraded to the role of Roman gladiators.
Instead of gifted visionaries and devoted shepherds who concentrate the
wisdom of the majority, every day we see more depressingly typical profiles of
social manipulators. It seems that
their duty to society is to entertain the masses, to moderate the aspirations
of the most politically active citizens and to control frustration during
political turbulence.
Thus
successful politicians in the modern Western democracies represent a profession
that is very difficult to defend morally.
With the media’s help politicians’ antics are perceived as ultimately
more for the purpose of “entertaining” the masses rather than of stimulating
dialogue. Only the best players in this
political wrestling match are finally accepted as the top leaders of the ruling
party and receive support from those who really control our societies. The time when politicians’ unique beliefs
and uncompromised ideals determined their behavior has passed. JFK was probably the last president on this
continent without the “politically constructed personality” occasioned
by the whole process of “bringing up” a modern politician. But his ability to stimulate society toward
more ambitious goals made the masses more difficult to manipulate with Mammon
and consumerism. His tragic death
occurred at a time when capitalism was still controlled, and before the
re-emergence of the monopolistic tendencies we now call globalization. These circumstances allowed as well for a
president elected quite accidentally, Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909), to
honestly consider his moral obligations to the nation and to establish strong
anti-trust regulations.
Nowadays, our Dear
Politicians (a privileged circle of the certified gladiators that are accepted
to have a full coverage in the monopolistic media) do not find it necessary to
defend their own credibility or their faithfulness to principles or ideals they
espoused in the past. With the help of
the media we are trained to look for constant but merely superficial changes to
what is essentially identical rhetoric. Only the least conformist politicians
are confronted with contradictory facts from their past. The fact that the message never essentially
changes seems to confirm an intuitive feeling that the ultimate political goals
are silently predetermined above the politicians’ heads, by those few who own
the media, the banks and the main corporate interests. In this situation our poor politicians
appear to develop a very schizophrenic mentality in response to the conflict
between these economic pressures and the typically slavish and idealistic
service to their first political mentors (and perhaps even ideals!) at the
beginning of their political career.
To
succeed, at some point politicians must demonstrate their ability to
capitulate, to compromise their ideals to outside interests. This represents the basic requirement for
being trusted later, and explains politicians’ pronounced arrogance when they
finally reach the top positions. We
must be fully aware that the real bosses who rule the financial spheres accept
only this type of person as political servant.
These influential “godfathers” have intelligently adopted something like
the communist concept of a silent Politburo as the best way to control politics
nowadays. When mastered, this
structure even allowed for the existence of different parties in communist
Poland, which created the illusion of the conformist majority that they were
free – while living under a puppet government.
We
have not reached this level of doublespeak yet – but we are very close. Recall
the last fierce fight between two puppets (of money and influence) for the US
presidency. Neither would ever
challenge the lobbying powers: their different faces and personalities only
help us to maintain the illusion of a choice when voting for variously painted
puppets. We see the same trends when
analyzing closely the Mulroney party’s securing the Bronfman family financial
interest, as well as how the Chrétien administration protects the Asper family,
even when this family breaks anti-monopoly laws when buying up Canadian
media. It is even funnier to see how
our dear Chrétien was forced to nominate as the CBC president the CEO of the
corporation that had taken over two billion dollars he made in Canada to the US
– without paying taxes – and bought a Universal Studio in Hollywood with this cash. Who is now watching over the public media
at the CBC?
This
bigger picture from above is about our continental politics and probably can
smooth over your latest provincial electoral loss, Mr. Laundry, since the
public is not very much aware of your major mentors from the local financial
spheres. However, many people are
talking about the growing arrogance of your administration, and it probably had
a big influence on their votes. This
arrogance and security in power may indicate that support from powerful
financial interests was behind your party’s success some years ago: according
to this interpretation the separatist motivation was only helping the
politicians in their real work. With
such a system it is impossible to see how politicians can combat corruption and
inspire society for real change. That
is the reason why I want to focus your attention on the spoiled landscape left
by your party. We should discuss there
about a level of corruption developed at the peripheral regions of your
administration. Mr. Laundry, you must
understand that your lost election reflects the collective experience of many
people that find your party to be a gang of corrupt politicians. The manifested arrogance of the CSST and CLP
presidents illustrates that perfectly (see my enclosure). I am sure that others could provide even
clearer pictures. My intuitive
conclusions about this situation would support a certain amount of cynicism and
even give not voting a certain appeal – and this was borne out by the fact that
10% of the potential voters declined to participate in the latest provincial political
gladiator show. Now on the same grounds
that you, Mr. Laundry, say that the local economy was booming lately only
thanks to your leadership, I can claim that the abstention of 10% of the voters
is due only to my circulated call for not voting. J
Do
we need politicians who serve mainly special economic interests that “process”
our souls with genetically modified consumerism? We do not need promises – oft-repeated in different combinations
– to lower taxes and raise salaries. They are aimed at silencing our growing
mental hunger for a decent life free to pursue our dreams and our goals, free
of spin doctors and vested interests who veil the truth about our individual
destinies. What we need now is respect for
each distinct life – life cannot be adjusted to one-size-fits-all boxes
prepared by those who, by outsmarting others in their materialistic games, feel
above the majority.
CAN
WE REALLY GET OUT OF THIS ALREADY CLOSED CIRCUIT AND A VICIOUS CIRCLE BY
EXERCISING OUR RIGHT TO VOTE? CAN WE
BELIVE THAT OUR DEAR LEADERS POSING AS FATHERS TO IMPROVE OUR LIVES ARE GOING
TO BE SELECTED BY ORDERLY ELECTIONS?
Let’s collect our individual experiences on a website “Palestinized souls of the modern world”
where people can share their own experiences with a hope of finding a common
platform that can rebuild our optimism about the future. Let’s do it a.s.a.p. – everyone (you, too,
Mr. Laundry) is welcomed to propose their own formula to do it together
(contact me: slavekpop@yahoo.com
or at http://spop.addr.com/). The arrogance of the most influential is growing
each day more in our globalizing world and surely you were also experiencing
it, but only on a different level.
The word PALESTINIZATION reflects many
secret social manipulations that are bound, sooner or later, to explode in our
faces. It exposes the treatment of the
poorest people by the most influential where respect is reserved only for those
with money and networked social positions.
Each day we have more people who want to impose their power to harm
others without trial and with disdain for basic rights. "Palestinization" implies a deadly
momentum, the logical conclusion of narrow-minded policies and arrogance.
Let’s share our very own experiences of
feeling to be “Palestinized” in many dimensions of our lives, because only
after this we can truly understand and help better for those suffering more in
this world.
Sincerely,
Slawomir Poplawski
P.S.
Please have a look at the enclosed pamphlet that circulated among people
just before the last election. It
reflects my individual contribution to be eventually published on a website “Palestinized souls of the modern world”
where people can share their own experiences. You, Mr. Laundry, are very
welcome to contribute your own reflections about how people on different social
levels are abused and used by others. Let’s try to work together!

Palestinization of people
Are some CSST's and CLP's figures bird-brained and
protected? – about the costly networked circus.
It seems
that our provincial premier Mr. B.Landry was really right when he was
talking about the existence of some people in our province who are even less
than bird-brained when taking care of their dependants. He would be probably more careful in saying
this if being fully aware that the same problem is plaguing his
administration. At this moment it
is better only referring to the peripheral regions of his administration and
not pointing out his inner cabinet.
Nobody would like to be aggressively accused for “not having culture” by the previous minister of labor and the
CSST’s supervisor that is still in his top cabinet.
This
introduction, with the aim of reaching a wider audience, is really needed in
the case of Mrs. Belanger from CLP
that refuses to verify legal complaints about the CSST’s work with their
representatives: Vice-president Mrs. Bailly (secretly visits a place of the
victim’s work and coordinates with the employer efforts in burying his
complaints about scandalous treatment after the accident) and Mr. Marcotte
(taking away $5000 from a check of the CSST’s client). These people were not showing a good will
to solve the problems of the client that was forced to work without providing
the promised medical equipment after his accident. It seems that they feel to be above the people and that nobody
can verify their questionable behavior.
According to the documentation it is clearly seen that even the
previous/present minister of labor were/are not willing or afraid to verify
their basic qualifications and provide answer.
I think
that now it is time ask people for help in informing me about the mentioned
above people – about for example existence of their powerful family members or
networked party friends. I have a
constitutional right to know about their real position in this province and
start to worry about my young kids or work – instead of demanding some logical
and lawful responses from these untouchable Quebec apparatchiks. I want to be treated as an equal member by
the Quebec establishment from Quebec City and be also democratically informed
about their networked influence.
It seems
that a knowledge of “Who is Who and with
Whom behind?” is the most important in this province for the simple people
to defend their rights.
Probably
it would be good to cool down our promoted by the media curiosity about winners
of the coming provincial election.
Instead, let’s try not to vote because
this act boosts only ego of the already pre-chosen puppets (referring to the
main parties candidates) of the ruling financial spheres that are only using
voters for their own gains. For
example, the Liberals are mainly servicing a big North American capital and the
PQ leaders are protecting local financial sharks that use nationalistic issues
to support their less competitive businesses on the global market. It is funny to see Mr.Charest “teaching”
formally PQ but mainly the masses that even only traces of the certain type
racism are forbidden today, while the poorest people can be always
assaulted. His party protects more the
richest that can take billions from Canada without paying taxes (Liberal
government shielding Broffmans family during a trial about the secret financial
law established for them by the Mouroney’s party – the ruling parties fighting
externally are always internally united when blessed/baptized by the financial
spheres). At the same time we can see a
gang of Mr. Landry ministers that only change their portfolios to fake the real
reforms. For example, the incompetent
Labor Minister becomes the funniest culture guru in his cabinet. Joining them today is a street-smart boy
from the ADQ that tries to find a compilation strategy between these two
puppets, which will represent a compromise between the local and global
businesses. The really ruling financial
spheres with their puppet politicians only need and respect us one day in every
four years – TRY NOW DO NOT VOTE!
My tiny voice represents a very naïve attempt of
changing something by trying to take justice into own hands. The presented example of my latest
correspondence shows only that simple people cannot force the networked and
corrupted by power notables to solve honestly some of their problems. A very typical approach is to write answers
that omit the main issues and when requested to correct it the arrogant
authorities are repeating the same - as the CLP president shows a typical
example.
I have
named this style as a “palestinization
of people” in a letter to McGill authorities from the last year. My problems are relatively small and do not
overwhelm me, but there are many more people that even pay a praise of their
precious lives when the arrogance of the most influential is growing each day
more in our globalizing world.
The word
PALESTINIZATION reflects many secret social manipulations that are bound,
sooner or later, to explode in our faces.
It exposes the treatment of the poorest people by the most influential
where respect is reserved only for those with money and networked social
positions. Each day we have more people
who want to impose their power to harm others without trial and with disdain
for basic rights.
"Palestinization" implies a deadly momentum, the logical
conclusion of narrow-minded policies and arrogance.
Let’s share our
very own experiences of feeling to be “Palestinized” in many dimensions of our
lives because only after this we can truly understand and help better for those
suffering more in this world.
Probably, we should feel
encouraged to open for example a website “Palestinized
souls of the modern world” where people can share their own experiences
with a hope of finding a common platform that can rebuild our optimism about
the future. Let’s do it a.s.a.p. and
everyone is welcomed to propose the own formula or contact me
(slavekpop@yahoo.com) for doing it together.
P.S. The lowest ranking
people from the CSST and CLP do know many cases about the palestanized people
by their offices and their discrete help in revealing it is welcomed.
